Avalon Middle School and its surrounding partners would like to recognize our PTO President, Beth Protsman!
Who is the PTO? The PTO is a group of parents, family members, teachers, staff and community partners who want to support Avalon Middle School, its students and staff. When and where does the PTO meet? The PTO Board Members and Volunteers meet monthly at the school, the first Monday of each month at 9:00 am. These monthly meetings are open to all who wish to participate. In addition the PTO holds two General Meetings during the school year in the school cafeteria at night for all to attend. Check our calendar for these important dates. What does the PTO do? Avalon Middle’s PTO does the “extra” things needed in and around our school. School budgets these days do not allow room for extra activities, needed supplies and staff support. The PTO pitches in to provide that extra support in many different ways. A few of the things we support are: the Positive Behavior Awards, celebrating the A and A/B honor roll students, assisting with the 6th grade health screenings, and attending county meetings to keep abreast of the latest changes in our schools. Staff members at Avalon Middle School are the best around, and we also show them our appreciation at various times of the year. How much time does it take? Volunteering for the PTO depends on what you want to do and the time you have available. We have some members who contribute simply by showing their support in joining and others who volunteer their time. PTO volunteering is wonderful and flexible enough to fit everyone’s schedule. You can volunteer at every function, some of the functions, or just once a year. We have functions during the day, in the afternoons, evenings and on the weekends. We have something for everyone, but the most important thing you can do is become a PTO Member so you can be contacted about our various opportunities. How do I join? For family memberships simply fill out the PTO application, include the $5.00 membership fee, and return both to the school in the envelope provided. We will send home your membership card, which will be valid for discounts with our local community partners. For community partner memberships, simply fill out the Community Partner application, select your level of partnership, indicate any offered discounts and return the application with partnership to the school in the envelope included.
